| FORMOCON Acetal co-polymer resins |
ˆ Top |
|
Acetal co-polymer (POM) resins are one of the five major engineering plastics with outstanding mechanical strength, oil, heat and wear resistance.
These resins find major applications in gears and parts for electronics, electrical machinery, automobiles, transportation equipment, general machinery, and medical instruments, as well as plastic zippers and stays.
The supplier is Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC) of Taiwan, part of the huge Formosa Plastics Group which is a major producer of monomers, polymers and finished plastics products.
FORMOCON resins are listed in UL (Underwriters Laboratories) of USA, comply with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations.
FORMOCON FM090 is certified by NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) to comply with the requirements of NSF standard 61 for drinking water system components. |

| Chlorinated PVC (CPVC) resins and compounds |
ˆ Top |
|
CPVC offers the following improvements in performance over PVC:
•
|
Heat deflection temperature is 10-40°C higher than PVC, and thus can withstand higher temperature applications including hot water contact. |
•
|
Has an improved chemical resistance to PVC, especially at high temperatures. Good resistance to acids, alkalis and many chemicals. |
| • |
Flame resistance is better than PVC. CPVC is one of the best fire resistant thermoplastic resins. |
| • |
Tensile strength and stiffness are superior to PVC at high temperatures. |
CPVC resins, in powder form, are available for supply to compounders. Alternatively CPVC compounds are available in a wide range of formulations for use directly into extrusion and injection moulding applications.
CPVC compounds are used in applications such as hot water pipes, hot water fittings and automotive and window profiles.
CPVC resins and compounds are sourced by NichePlas from Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. of Japan. |

| Polyvinyl Alcohol Resins |
ˆ Top |
|
From Japan, NichePlas offers water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol resins. A number of grades are available depending on the required application:
| • |
Completely hydrolysable in water |
| • |
Moderately hydrolysable in water |
| • |
Partially hydrolysable in water |
The resins are available in fine powder form for dissolving in water and using in aqueous applications, or in coarser form for typical thermoplastics processing purposes.
Applications include the following:
| • |
Stabiliser (suspending agent) for Polyvinyl Acetate emulsions |
| • |
Additive in adhesives, including re-moistenable adhesives |
| • |
Coatings on papers |
| • |
Sizing agent for textiles |
| • |
Manufacturing of water soluble films; sponges |
| • |
Blending in thermoplastics processes with polymers such as LDPE. |
Polyvinyl alcohol resins are environmentally friendly, and are easily biodegraded by microorganisms in sludge systems.
The following polymers are marketed directly by our partner Niche Creation Network Pty Ltd, who can be contacted at kevin@nicheplas.com.au |

|
Performance characteristics of EVAL resins:
| • |
Outstanding gas barrier properties which are superior to those of any other conventional polymer. |
•
|
Very good resistance to oils and solvents which allows EVAL resins to be used for packaging oily foods, edible oils, mineral oils, agricultural pesticides and organic solvents. |
| • |
Aroma and flavour retention of the contents of the package and the exclusion of undesirable odours. |
| • |
EVAL resins are thermoplastic polymers and can be processed on conventional fabrication equipment. |
EVAL resins are particularly suited to for food, medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, agricultural and industrial packaging and automotive applications.
